Chase and Allison's Engagement NYC 8.4.17

IMG_7454.JPG
IMG_7453.JPG

How he proposed.

On August 4, 2017, the second day of their trip to New York City, they took a walk through Central Park to make their reservations at Tavern on the Green.  They started at Strawberry Fields and made a stop on the Bow Bridge.

There Chase got down on one knee and asked Allison's hand in marriage. Shortly after a man walked up and said his name was John and would be taking pictures all over Central Park for a hour. After taking pictures they headed to Tavern on the Green to celebrate.  They were greeted with a bottle of champagne from family and friends.

Writing Your Own Wedding Vows? 3 Common Mistakes To Avoid

Can you recall the most memorable wedding ceremony you’ve attended? What made it unforgettable? I bet the one that you are recalling is the one with the most compelling wedding vows exchange.

You listened attentively as the couple read their own personal wedding vows to one another, promising how they would love each other for the rest of their lives.

The reason the wedding vows exchange is so impactful during the wedding ceremony is because personal wedding vows capture what’s special about your unique relationship as well as your personal feelings about the person you have fallen head over heels in love with. There’s no better way to start your marriage off on the right foot than with your own personal words of promise.

But many engaged couples stumble over writing their vows. Some get writer’s block from just thinking about it. What to say and how to say it can be overwhelming especially when there’s so much emotion involved so I’m going to arm you with some tips to get you going in the right direction.

You can ensure that your wedding vows are a crowd-pleaser by avoiding three common mistakes.

Mistake #1 - Oversharing

Your wedding vows should be fueled by your love story, otherwise, why write your own? In fact, I even coach you how to do this in my, "How to Write Wedding Vows That Wow Start-to-Finish Guide and Workbook," but there are some things that need to be kept private. “TMI” wasn’t invented without reason!

Use your own judgment on what’s appropriate to share in the intimate setting of your wedding ceremony. Some things in the oversharing category include going on and on about relationship stories. It’s great to share a personal story, but there’s a limit. You’ll want to share your story clearly and concisely and then move on.  Also, don’t tell or reference inappropriate jokes and leave your inside jokes for another time.

Mistake #2 — Making them up on the spot or leaving them until the last minute

If you choose to write your own vows, you, in essence, have indicated that these words are important to you and represent more than simple sentences on a piece of paper. They are the building blocks of your marriage. As such, you need ample time to write a first draft and revise it to make sure your vows reflect your heartfelt thoughts and feelings. Think about your partner who you will be saying your vows to. You would want him or her to deeply feel all the intent you put into your vows.

Any good speechwriter will tell you that they start on their draft months prior to the big day. Why? Because they need time to write, write some more, edit and finalize. That’s the difference between an amateur and a professional. Which do you want to be on your wedding day?

Mistake #3 —Leave your improv routine for another time

Your partner has come to know you and fall in love with you. You surely don’t want to freak him or her out at the altar with a comedy schtick that’s completely out of left field. And remember all those people out there listening in? This is the time to rise to the occasion and be your best self. Here's a quick tip from my course "How to Write Wedding Vows that Wow"...

Write your wedding vows as if you were talking to your friend because that’s your voice! Nothing is put on and your true personality will shine!

The long-lasting benefits of writing your own wedding vows is totally worth overcoming any overwhelm that you may be feeling. Take an afternoon and devote a few hours to brainstorming all the reasons why you love your soon-to-be spouse. Once you have your loving sentiments on paper, you’re halfway there and if you need additional guidance — a personal wedding vows writing coach if you will — my personal wedding vows writing guide and workbook is just a click away!

Kristen Rocco is the professional love storyteller and wedding writer of Love Notery. Putting her professional background as an interviewer and writer to work, she created Love Notery to help engaged couples capture their love stories in the beautiful words they deserve to share on their wedding day and treasure as a wedding heirloom for generations. Her wedding vows writing course exclusively designed to help engaged couples from start to finish write heartfelt and meaningful personal wedding vows is now available at www.lovenotery.com/howtowriteweddingvows.

Not Enough Time to Workout? No Problem!

High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) is a great way to burn fat and boost metabolism in a short amount of time. In fact, the 3 workouts below will only take you 15 minutes to complete but, trust me, your body will be burning afterwards! The provided workouts are a combination of high intensity exercises to increase your heart rate and lower intensity workouts that will build strength. The ultimate goal here is to strengthen your body and gain lean muscle, which is the secret to fat burning that will lead you to a lean, toned body.

HIIT 1:

Complete each exercise for 30 seconds, rest for 10 seconds in between each exercise if needed, repeat 3 times!

  • high knees
  • butt kicks
  • alternating leg squat jumps
  • shoulder taps
  • push ups (knees are optional)
  • russian twists
  • x-ups

Helpful hints: On the squat jumps, start with one leg in front, hips facing the side with one hand on each side of your leg. Keep your bottom down and your chest up to work your legs and not harm your back. When jumping, make sure to twist your hips when switching legs so that you are also working your abs at the same time! On your shoulder taps, your right hand touches your left shoulder and vise versa, keeping your core tight so that your hips don't sway very much from side to side. On the russian twists, clasp your hands and make sure the back or side of your hand touches the ground while you switch from side to side. As you get better with your x-ups, alternating right hand to left foot and left foot to right hand you can increase the difficulty as your abs get stronger by keeping your feet off of the ground the entire time!

https://www.youtube.com/embed/_4D0AnfW2X8

HIIT 2:

Complete each exercise for 30 seconds, rest for 10 seconds in between each exercise if needed, repeat 3 times!

  • squat, left kick, left reverse lunge
  • squat, right kick, right reverse lunge
  • push up to plank up downs
  • criss cross squat jumps
  • left leg toe tap raises
  • right leg toe tap raises
  • forearm plank

Helpful hints: Keep your core tight when you kick after your squat so that you are working your abs and legs at the same time. While squeezing your core, keep your bottom low on your plank up downs so you are working your abs, shoulders, and arms simultaneously. To work your inner thigh muscles, keep your toes and knees pointed out on your criss cross jump squats. On your toe tap leg raises, squeeze your glute (butt) muscle at the top of your lift while squeezing your core, making sure your back doesn't arch and your hips don't sink down.

HIIT 3:

Complete each exercise for 30 seconds, rest for 10 seconds in between each exercise if needed, repeat 3 times!

  • squat jacks
  • mountain climbers
  • hip raises
  • left leg hip raises
  • right leg hip raises
  • bicycle crunches
  • straight sit ups

Helpful hints: Get low, get low, get low! On your squat jacks, keep your knees facing out and drop as low as you can before exploding through your toes and pulling your feet back together. On the mountain climbers, keep your shoulders in line with your wrists and squeeze your core as you switch your feet back and forth. On all of the hip raises keep the weight in your heels and your shoulder blades, lifting your toes off the ground and squeezing your cheeks together at the top of your lift to tighten and tone your glutes and hamstrings. On the bicycle crunches, the goal is to touch your right elbow to your left knee and vice versa. This exercise will really work your lower abs if you hold your neck and shoulders off the ground and extend your legs out all the way each time you switch. And last but not least, the straight leg sit ups are great for your upper and lower abs as long as you are focusing on reaching for the sky as fast you can and then coming back down slowly.

Nashville's New Health Coach Cayce Brasel

What made you start your business?

I started my business because I found myself in a situation where I was referring people to a program in order to get my own products for free, but I was leaving money on the table.  You know when you go to a really amazing restaurant or movie and then you can't wait to tell other people to go try or see it too because you enjoyed it so much?? Well the restaurants and movie theaters don't pay you for those referrals, but I found out that ViSalus does.  I first became a customer at the end of 2011 because I was not only struggling with tendinitis, due to lack of nutrition, but I was also struggling with my body image as a college cheerleader. When I realized how much I loved the products and that I could help other people feel as amazing as I did, I took advantage of that and began referring multiple people to the program. That is what led me to get started and take advantage of my business opportunity.

What is the best advice given to you yet?

The best advice I've been given so far is to "focus on what you can control." This advice has helped me remain positive and persistent as a business owner, but also in life. We have the power to choose if we are going to have a good or bad attitude. We have the power to choose if we eat the cheat meal or not. We have the power to learn almost anything that our heart desires with technology today. The things outside of our control such as other people's attitudes, actions, opinions, feelings, and mistakes are normally the things that create frustration and tension in our lives. If we choose to only focus on the things that we can control, it will lead us to living more healthy, happy, and fulfilled lives.

What trends do you see coming for this year?

The trends I see coming for this year are a greater focus on healthy meal prep and shorter, higher intensity work outs. The things couples want to focus on while planning their wedding are saving money and getting in the best shape they can before the big day. The best way to achieve this goal is through meal prep and HIIT, (high intensity, interval training). Wedding planning requires so much time and the last thing you want to do is go to the gym for an hour or two a few times a week. Also, without planning what meals you're going to have ahead time, it's easy to spend $10-20/day on eating out! The best way reach those goals are going to be with weekly meal prepping, and 30 minutes to an hour of HIIT a few times a week.

What are your favorite accounts to follow on social media right now?

Fitness: Kevin Klug, one of my favorite personal trainers in Nashville @Klugfitness and Mia St. Aubin, 15 minute video HIIT workouts @misstaubin
Food: Goodful and Tasty Facebook videos - Great for meal prep ideas
Entrepreneurship and Social Media Marketing: Tony Robbins, @tonyrobbins and Lewis Howes, @lewishowes
Inspiration and Encouragement: Ashley Sarnicola, @ashleysarnicola and Alexi Panos, @alexipanos

What is the coolest thing you have done so far as a business owner?

By far the most rewarding thing I've been able to do as a business owner is have the ability to work remotely and create residual income. This reason this is so significant is because last year, two of my best friends had a parent pass away unexpectedly. Thanks to my online business that I can build from my phone and my computer, I was able to travel to New Jersey and San Francisco each for a week to be with my friends during the very difficult time in their life. If I had a corporate job or worked for anyone else but myself, there's no way I could have been able to get the time off of work, twice in the same year, and still be able to pay my bills. Situations like that are what remind me why I chose to chase my dreams as an entrepreneur!

Anything else you would like for us to know about you and your business?

There are many products and programs that people can choose to use to get healthy, but I've used Vi to create a healthy lifestyle habit for my life and love to help others do the same. One of the best parts about using my products is that after each 90 days, you can select a local charity, such as the Boys and Girls Club of America, The Palmer Home for Children, or Graceworks Ministries, that will receive 90 healthy meals and snacks for children or families in need. In addition to my business, I'd like to leave you with my vision statement as a final peak into my life:  I chase an environment that forces me to become a better dreamer, doer, and leader. It is my mission to be a spark of excitement and hope that creates self confidence in others to believe that they, too, were created to make a difference.

In Honor of Veteran's Day: Virginia and Kyle

Virginia Barnette Driftmier & Kyle Logan Pido

How did he propose? :

Kyle surprised me by taking me up in a small privately flown airplane in New Orleans during the day on New Years Eve 2015. As we flew over the city we had champagne and chocolate ready for us in the back of the aircraft. After we landed he took me to a beautiful secluded park in the Garden District of New Orleans. We walked together for a little while and then sat on a bench that had a plaque on it that said “Dedicated to lovers everywhere.” I looked away at something in the park and when I turned back around he had gotten down on one knee and was holding my great grandmother’s engagement ring. As I started crying he asked me to marry him!

Germantown's Newest Treasure: Poppy & Monroe

What made you start your business?

Like many busy women, Karen Kops (my business partner) and I found ourselves with very little time for self-care after work, family, friends and life in general.  Our executive careers came with extensive travel and left us both both feeling out of balance. There was very little room for taking care of our health, much less pampering.  After meeting at an hotel design show in NYC, we just started meeting in Nashville where we were both live and fortunately soon recognized we could seize the opportunity to turn our collective passion for all things natural, beauty, and design into a new beauty brand & business model that was missing here.

What wedding trends do you see coming for Fall?

We're seeing gold embellishments such as gold foil, accent lines, and reverse french, especially. Pink is prevalent these days too.

What are your favorite accounts to follow on social media right now?

We have many we follow that are partners especially moving the direction of natural beauty so positively in general but we love ElsieLarson, RuthieLindsey, Athertable & Itsdougthepug!

What is the coolest thing you have done so far as a business owner?

We've had some amazing collaborations, so much press that we're grateful for but the coolest thing is being able to offer Nashville some really unique services like sugaring (most natural hair removal option out there) and Indie/green beauty brands that were not carried here before.

Anything else you would like for us to know about booking bachelorette parties?

We are a boutique salon so booking in advance is key so we can ensure we have proper staffing to accommodate and make it a great and fun experience for groups overall.  We will do all we can to ensure they enjoy themselves and have a pampering experience unlike anything they've had before!  We also now offer facials, sugaring/waxing, and bridal makeup including trials, day of and application with or without lesson.

Stylist and Make-up Artist: Alexandra Nicole

What made you start your business?

I was tired of working for someone else. I knew that I always had the entrepreneurial spirit, but it took me taking the leap to actually embrace and live my dream.

What is the best advice given to you yet?

Keep looking forward. The minute you look back you'll miss something. What's in the past is in the past. If you made a mistake, learn from it but keep your focus on what's important. That which lies ahead

What wedding trends do you see coming for Fall?

The natural look is always the most popular wedding look. This fall however, I see brides playing up the natural look with more of a smoky eye. Not a gray or black smoky eye, a suede smoky eye. This is when browns and neutrals are used to deepen the eye area.

What are your favorite accounts to follow on social media right now?

Because I am a beauty and fashion blogger on the side, I love independent fashion bloggers Facebook site and blog. I also enjoy following the women's entrepreneurial society blog. As for local social media accounts, Lindsay Lisseau photography. Her pictures are amazing. I also love Casey Cooper floral design. She did the flowers for my wedding and her arrangements are absolutely perfect.

What is the coolest thing you have done so far as a business owner?

I would say, doing make up right before the Grammy's at the VH1 save the music party in LA. I got to meet some pretty cool and famous people.

Starting out 2016 with the Best Wellness Coach in Nashville

What made you start your business?

My passion for wellness has definitely evolved over the years! As I have personally grown and continued learning about eating well, exercising (outside of sports), and properly managing my stress, I’ve really noticed the difference it had on me mentally, physically, and even emotionally. The confidence, mental clarity, and energy you gain when you’re treating your body well is so incredible that I wanted to help teach other people how to be successful with their own wellness, so they could experience those things in their own lives!

What is the best advice given to you yet?

Whatever you tell yourself, you will eventually believe, and then ultimately become. Think positively!

What trends do you see coming for 2016?

There are always fun speculations at the beginning of January and this year is no exception! With awesomeness that is ClassPass, we will most likely see a rise in boutique fitness clubs, whose main focus is on the overall customer experience. One of the largest trends that will come in this year will be a large focus on the mind-body aspect. There will be more faith based fitness programs as well as a large emphasis on rest and recovery (i.e. stress management). Because of that, we will also see a rise in personal trainers moving towards health and wellness coaching. Speaking from experience, fitness is an awesome aspect of wellness but it’s only once piece of a large and complex puzzle in peoples’ lives. In order to help people really move forward and increase their overall life satisfaction, we have to know how to properly assist clients in making permanent behavior changes.

What are your favorite accounts to follow on social media right now?

One of my favorite things about social media is the ability to connect with people anywhere! There are so many inspiring people in this world and right now my favorites are:

For Food Inspo: @EvaKosmasFlores of Adventures in Cooking, @NutritionStripped, @PinchOfYum, and @SimpleGreenSmoothies

For Fitness Inspo: @ToneItUp, @KaylaItsines, @AmandaBisk, and @HealthyistheNewSkinny

For Business Inspo: @JonAcuff, @DonMillerIs, and @BreneBrown

For Fashion Inspo: @JuliaHEngel of Gal Meets Glam, & @KatTanita of With Love From Kat

For Random Prettiness: @DesignLoveFest & @AmyMayPaper

For my Love of Golden Retrievers: @AspentheMountainPup, @RustyRodas, & @SamanthaBrookePhoto

What is the coolest thing you have done so far as a business owner?

The coolest thing I get to do is be a positive part of my clients’ lives. I swear I learn so much about life from each of them! Life gets crazy and it’s an honor to help people become and stay healthy as they navigate through the highs and the lows! From helping women feel their best before their wedding day, to developing strong bodies so they’re energetic and mobile as they age, it’s so fun to have a role in their overall wellbeing!

Anything else you would like for us to know about your business?

I provide one-on-one coaching sessions for anyone who is interested in making healthy changes and improving their overall quality of life! It can be so hard to find what works best for you personally with so much information out there. If you’re looking for lasting, long-term results, give me a call and we will get you on the right path!

Studio Goddess Flirty Fitness

What made you start your business?

I had been looking for fun alternative fitness classes in the Nashville area.  After years of dance and gymnastics classes, I wanted to find a workout program that was both athletic and challenge, but also provided a supportive community and social experience.  After months of searching, with no luck, I decided to open Studio Goddess in 2010 in hopes of offering Nashville females an alternative to traditional gyms. I put together a comprehensive program that provided unique classes with a flirty twist.  These classes are designed to not only build strength, shape, and tone; but also empower women through movement and the promotion of self-love.

What is the best advice given to you yet?

The best advice that I have been given is to embrace what makes my business unique and not to be scared to try new things.

What wedding trends do you see coming for Fall?

Nashville has become a Mecca for bachelorette parties.  We have been so fortunate to participate in the celebration with these beautiful brides by hosting hundreds of parties and helping them get the desired physique they want for their big day.  I can only imagine that 2016 will be our biggest party season yet.

What are your favorite accounts to follow on social media right now?

My favorite account to follow as of right now is Studio Goddess Flirty Fitness on Facebook for up to date info on classes and specials.

What is the coolest thing you have done so far as a business owner?

I have been so fortunate to be featured in several blogs, online articles, newspapers, and radio interviews.  I am thankful for these outlets and feel they provide me with a platform to advocate for female empowerment, encouragement, self acceptance, and self-love.  Owning a business has also provided me with amazing opportunities to give back to the community through toy drives, food drives, fundraising, and volunteering.  I am so thankful for the opportunity to create a career doing things that I love, and I am always looking for opportunities to share encouragement to follow your dreams, although it is not always the easiest option, it is definitely the most rewarding.

Anything else you would like for us to know about bachelorette parties?

Studio Goddess offers several different party options to ensure that you and your guests receive the ultimate Goddess experience.  We work with you to plan your party and guarantee that every detail will exude your personality to perfection.  From pole and chair dance to hip-hop line dancing and aerial silks, Studio Goddess is Nashville's bachelorette party destination.  Many groups are looking for a fun activity to participate before their evening festivities, Studio Goddess parties may be hosted any day of the week between 10:00am and 10:00pm. Our private parties are very popular and you will want to book your party well in advance to secure your desired date and time.  If there is a specific date you would like to hold it is imperative that you put down your deposit as soon as possible.

Balance In Practice

What made you start your business?

I started this website/blog because I wanted to help people learn the balance between nutrition and exercise when life gets crazy. Balance is such a hard thing to grasp in a world that is constantly moving at such a fast pace. I wanted to write my stories and knowledge down on paper for people to see and hopefully learn from. I wanted people to have someone to relate to and know that they are not alone in all the struggles that they face in trying to find balance.

What is the best advice given to you yet?

The best advice I have been given was to not focus on always pleasing your audience. Sounds silly I know but if I constantly worry about what society is going to think about whenever I post something, I may never have anything down on paper. It is important to write what you are passionate about and how you really feel and not what you think society wants (although if it aligns with what the people want it is definitely a bonus). It is also important to not focus on how many followers you get or how many people "like" your posts, although it is so easy to get caught up on that. Focusing on helping one person at a time is my motto and if I am not reaching thousands just yet I am totally fine with that!

What wedding trends do you see coming for Fall?

I am honestly not too sure! My husband and I got married in March, 2015 and I still love seeing all the ideas for weddings all seasons of the year! I know that the rustic theme has definitely been a big one this past year (we followed this theme as well) and I can see it continueing into the next year for sure.

What are your favorite accounts to follow on social media right now?

I follow all kinds of people on instagram and not all of them are about health and fitness. Actually one of my favorites @momastery has nothing to with nutrition and exercise but her outlook on life is amazing and is definitely worth following. I also love @eatingwell, @smpliving, and @skinnytaste. They all have great recipes and beautiful food photography that will make your mouth water just looking at them.

What is the coolest thing you have done so far as a business owner?

Well since I have just started on this journey I probably don't have the coolest experience just yet. I would definitely say that seeing the people that I have already touched with my words and hearing their feedback on how much my work is changing them has been pretty awesome! My passion is to help others live happier and healthier andI feel like I am finally getting to do that, one reader at a time.

Tupelo Wedding: Bryan & Corinne

How did he propose? :

To start, we met in college. I think it goes without saying that during my tenure at Ole Miss, I met a lot of good-looking girls. Corinne Vance was the prettiest one I had ever seen.

Fast forward to years later, I realized her outward beauty was just a bonus. Turns out Corinne is even prettier on the inside. As that realization developed, it was only a matter of time before I knew she was the one. We dated for several years, most of which was me making sure I was prepared to give her all that she deserved in a man for the rest of our lives together.

In the Fall of 2014, I was finally ready for the engagement and could only hope that she was as well. From the beginning I knew I wanted it to be a complete surprise - the southern traditionalist somewhere inside me I guess. Because my new home in Tupelo, Mississippi had been struck by a tornado earlier that year, it had to undergo extensive repair spanning several months before I could move in. By November 2014, a housewarming party was in order. The stage was set.

As Corinne got ready for one type of party, my close friends and family were looking forward to another. So while I prepared for one of the most important nights of my life, she prepared deviled eggs.  Everyone in the house knew what was coming; everyone but Corinne. In the spirit of Thanksgiving, I made a toast thanking everyone in the room individually for the important roles they had played in my life and past. I closed by thanking Florence Corinne Vance and asking her to be my future. And, thankfully, she said yes.

Nashville Engagement & Oxford Wedding

The proposal-

Like most weekends In Nashville, Katie and Kyle had a busy schedule
planned with friends: going to sporting events, concerts, dinners,
etc.  This weekend in mid-April seemed no different. They had friends
visiting to attend the Ole Miss vs Vanderbilt baseball series and to
celebrate one of the friend's (Nate) as well as Katie's upcoming
birthday.  They attended both games on Thursday and Friday and were
planning to skip the final game of the series.

Kyle had some other "birthday" plans in mind...

Chloe (Nate's girlfriend) and Kyle were planning a "birthday
surprise" for Katie and Nate that Saturday.  If anyone knows Katie,
you know she loves plans so she hated not knowing what the exact plans
were.  After asking a million questions like what to wear and hoping
they were going to one of the many festivals in Nashville that
weekend, she let the "birthday" surprise begin.

The four of them got in the car that Saturday morning, Katie and Nate
blindfolded in the backseat having no clue where they were going.
After about a ten minute drive (where they were actually driving in
circles) they ended up at Westhaven Community courtyard in Franklin,
TN.  Still blindfolded Katie walks out of the car, still thinking it
was a surprise for her and Nate.  Kyle then told Katie to take the
blindfold off and he was down on one knee.  He was proposing!! Katie
was in complete shock, it was everything she had dreamed of!!   Nate
and Chloe (both in on the plan from the beginning) were there to
capture pictures and video of the future Bakers big day!!

The beautiful courtyard in Franklin was the perfect place for them to
officially start their lives together. Still on cloud nine today, the
couple will be getting married next spring in Oxford, MS where they
met and fell in love!

Love Notery

Kristen Rocco is a professional love storyteller as the Founder of Love Notery. She created Love Notery to give couples a very special piece of their history - the words of their extraordinary love stories. She crafts custom-written love stories among other treasured love keepsakes for engagements, weddings, anniversaries or simply to celebrate the love between two people. Find her at www.lovenotery.com

Why did you start your business?

One day last year, I was sitting on my couch watching TV when I caught a glimpse of my wedding photos. Every time I look at my wedding photos, all the amazing moments of that day rush back to me. It was one of those days that I’ll cherish forever. But then it hit me…it hit me that my love story began 3 years before my wedding day. Those 3 years prior to my wedding encompassed all the reasons why I had said “I do.” That’s when the idea for Love Notery came to me.

I thought to myself that if I were thinking this, others must be too. So I immediately decided to put my professional background as a storyteller, interviewer and writer to work and help couples celebrate all the reasons why they fell in love by documenting their extraordinary love stories.

It’s so rewarding to help couples bring their love stories to life not only because every story is unique, but I get to see couples fall in love all over again as they relive the memories of their relationship during our interview.

What is the best advice given to you yet?

Marie Forleo’s mantra is, “Create a business and a life that you love.” This really speaks to me. When you’re doing the work that you love, it doesn’t feel like work. This couldn’t be more true when I’m helping couples tell their love stories and creating tangible memories they’ll cherish now and for many years to come.

What wedding trends do you see coming for the Fall?

The couples I work with have a passion for personalizing their wedding day as much as possible. Sharing their love story with their guests on their wedding day has been a great way to do that. Also, couples are really thinking hard about what makes them unique and trying to carry that through in their decor, food, design, and venue.

What are your favorite accounts to follow on social media right now?

My Instagram picks are going to be all over the place! @jenkirkman for humor; @daniellelaporte and @hilaryrushford for entrepreneur inspiration; @fredrikeklundny for beautiful (real estate) shots in NYC; @shesthefirst for bettering the world through girls’ education; @photosbyilene for great (landscape) photography; @nutritionbymia for food porn; @humans.of.new.york for capturing the very essence of humanity; @huffpostweddings and @ourbestfindswedding for wedding inspiration and advice. Oh, and @lovenotery of course!

What is the coolest thing you have done so far as a business owner?

The coolest thing by far is bringing my own vision into the world that helps couples create their “love legacy.” I’m creating completely-custom heirloom love keepsakes that couples will be able to share with their children and their children will share with their children. That excites me and is what makes me get up every morning!

Paris, France: Josh + Kalea

Paris, France: Josh + Kalea

What does Louis Vuitton have to do with it?

The Proposal: Josh and Kalea are avid sports fans. He’s a basketball coach at Purdue University. Her brother played football at Purdue, so it was a rather uneventful Saturday evening spent gathered around the television watching college football. Then around halftime of the ball game, Josh asked Kalea if she had ordered something because he had seen a package in the kitchen. She brushed it off saying it was just something her mom had sent not knowing THE PACKAGE he was referring to. After additional questioning/badgering on the part of Josh, Kalea begrudgingly went to the kitchen to discover a professionally wrapped package. Her eyes lit up, but it was rather large so at no point in time in opening did she think, “Ohhh this is a ring!” Kalea proceeded to open the wrapping to find the Louis Vuitton purse she had drooled over a few weeks back when they were in Chicago. The thank you’s, you’re the best, I love you sooo much followed. She was taking pictures of her bag to send to her friends when Josh says, “Now make sure the authenticity card and receipt and all is inside in case you want to exchange it.” “Exchange it? I don’t want to exchange it!”Kalea shot back. Annnd then that’s when her mouth dropped to the floor. Not only was the authenticity card inside, there was a ring box with the cushion cut diamond Kalea had told Josh she wanted over a year ago. At that time, he rolled his eyes at her, but now fast forward to the present, and here it was right in front of her. For a small town Mississippi girl, this was a GREAT night. She got a Louis and a diamond. Oh and a good looking fella too.
